Assessment through my PSI practicum has been an important process, and also one that was being realigned daily in my practice. I have a conversational based approach to teaching, and due to this, my class tends to work in small groups to flesh out ideas together. Many times we are completing experiments and keeping track of our results with Scientific Method sheets. Other times, we record our conversations using diagrams and posters. And most commonly, I was checking for understanding through my opening's and closures of lessons and through student reactions and contributions. One goal that I have become aware of in the end weeks of my practicum is that I need to facilitate more opportunities to gain this assessment from individualist daily routine This would include more direct and individual student response, such as, exit slips, mouthing answers etc. This goal is one that I plan to carry forward in my PS2 placement to continue developing this skill.
