Self care and wellness is something that we do for ourselves and for others. It has become increasingly apparent that teaching these skills to students is necessary for their success throughout their lives. I felt that discussing how we can uplift ourselves and others was one of the ways that I could help equip my class with another common sense skill.
We began this lesson by celebrating the work that students had throughout their time in the Common Sense Club. We reviewed what common sense means, then we discussed some of the skills that we refined in the previous weeks.
Then I introduced the terms self care and wellbeing. Take a look at the attached slides for more information about the lesson. The slides move chronologically.
Our Finished Products! Here are the posters that children created during this class. We used some of these creations as inspiration for the bathroom project. We also hung the posters around the school as the first movement towards our goal of bringing the home to school.
